Come face to face with the rich and diverse heritage of the American Southwest at the Millicent Rogers Museum in historic Taos, New Mexico

As you walk through our 20 galleries and exhibition spaces, you too will make your own discoveries about the heritage of the Hispanic, Native American and Anglo arts and cultures of the Southwest.

A special highlight of the museum is the magnificent turquoise jewelry collected and owned by 20th-century fashionista Millicent Rogers, for whom the museum is named. Among the many highlights from her collection is the famous "Tab Necklace," which she purchased for $5,000 in the 1940s.

Also not to be missed is the permanent exhibition of materials donated by the family of Maria Martinez, the famed San Ildefonso Pueblo potter. On a first-name basis with Presidents and First Ladies, Martinez was the foremost Native American potter of the 20th century. This collection is a must-see for those interested in the history of pueblo pottery making.

To visit the Millicent Rogers Museum is to see 2,000 years of Southwestern history.

With spectacular views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, the Millicent Rogers Museum is housed in a historic Southwestern hacienda. The building was generously given to the museum by the Anderson family of Taos. Over the years, this historic structure has been updated, upgraded, and renovated—and it includes a noteworthy addition by the famed New York architectural firm of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. Today’s visitors appreciate the wonderfully intimate spaces where every turn leads to yet more discoveries about the arts and cultures of the Southwest. With plenty of free parking and easy handicapped access, the museum is open and welcoming to all.
