Guided Tours at Millicent Rogers Museum

A visit to Millicent Rogers Museum offers more than a look at beautiful objects. Through a guided tour, visitors can explore the art, history, and living cultural traditions represented in the museum’s collection with one of our knowledgeable docents. Whether this is your first visit to Taos or you are returning to explore the museum again, a guided tour offers a more in-depth way to experience the collection.

Docent Tour Options

Whether you’re visiting with a school group, traveling with a tour company, or looking for a deeper museum experience, we offer several ways to explore the museum.

School Tours

  • New Mexico primary schools: Free
  • Out-of-state primary schools: $5 per person
  • College groups: $5 per person
  • Teachers accompanying the group: Free

Standard Museum Tour

  • Duration: 60 minutes
  • Group size: Up to 9 people per docent
  • Price: $20 per person
  • Docent fee: An additional one-time fee of $10 per group

Tour Companies, Large Groups, and Rallies

  • Duration: 60 minutes
  • Group size: 10 or more people
  • Price: $15 per person
  • Company guides: Complimentary
  • Docent fee: An additional one-time fee of $10 per group

Museum Enthusiast Tour

Want more time with the collection? The Museum Enthusiast Tour gives visitors greater opportunity to explore the museum and engage more deeply with its stories and objects.

  • Duration: 90 minutes
  • Group size: Up to 6 people per docent
  • Price: $30 per person
  • Docent fee: An additional one-time fee of $10 per group

VIP Experience

For a more in-depth experience, the VIP Experience combines a guided museum tour with special access to collection objects. Offered in collaboration with the museum’s curatorial team, this tour includes a presentation of two or three objects selected from the museum’s vault.

  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Group size: Up to 5 people per docent/curatorial team
  • Price: $50 per person
  • Docent fee: An additional one-time fee of $10 per group
  • Deposit: A nonrefundable deposit of 50% of the tour cost is due at booking

To Schedule A Tour

To schedule a tour, email tours@millicentrogers.org and include the following information:

  • Preferred date and time: tour slot will be confirmed via email
  • Type of tour: select from above options
  • Number of people in your group
  • Contact information: preferred name, email, and phone number

Cancellations & Refunds

  • 48 or more hours before your tour: Full refund.
  • Same-day cancellations: Deposits are nonrefundable.
  • How to cancel: Email tours@millicentrogers.org. Cancellations must be submitted by email; phone calls will not be considered a cancellation.
  • If the museum cancels: You may choose a full refund or reschedule your tour.

Arriving for Your Tour

Tours begin at their scheduled time. Please plan to arrive early and be ready when your tour begins.

Groups arriving more than 30 minutes late may be offered a regular museum visit if the scheduled tour can no longer be accommodated.

Add a Lunch Setup

Enjoy a lunch setup under our outdoor tent on the east lawn, available June through August as an add-on to any tour.

The fee covers the space and setup only. Groups are responsible for arranging their own food and delivery.

  • Up to 30 people: $80
  • 31–75 people: $100

The setup fee is nonrefundable and due at booking.
