Contemporary Pottery
Native peoples have been making pottery in the Southwest for more than 2,000 years, with each Pueblo developing its own traditional styles often inspired by ancient forms and designs. Still, other contemporary pottery artists are branching out and exploring exciting new forms and styles of decoration. No matter the style, all of the contemporary American Indian pottery we sell is built by hand-coiling using local clay sources and fired by traditional methods. It is not made on a potters wheel or fired in an electric kiln. Each piece is of the Earth, created by Native hands. Appreciate and enjoy.
